7 Lives Presentation!
Welcome to the first devlog of 7 Lives. In this opportunity we will give details and specifications of the early development of the game.
The project is being developed under the Godot Engine by three students from the course Taller de Diseño y Desarrollo de Videojuegos CC5408-1 (Autumn 2024). This video game is an original platform game whose objective is to traverse two-dimensional levels using the "controlled respawn" ability. This mechanic consists of using a weapon or orb to be able to revive in strategic locations of the levels while switching protagonists. This ability and its creative use, the story of the game, and the level design deliver a unique gaming experience.
The design of short levels and the speed of the game are inspired by games like "Super Meat Boy" and "Celeste".
For now, the control mapping is with the keyboard:

At this moment, the development state has progressed in the asset selection, creation of a collaborative project in an online repository, and animations of a generic character that can move from side to side and jump.
7 Lives Story
The game features Archer as the protagonist, a cat who finds himself in ancient Egypt. Archer, in his life as a cat, was respected to the extent that he was gifted a magical object of great power that allows him to connect with other cats carrying the same object. This orb, upon obtaining it, grants the protagonist the ability to revive in one of seven cats if he dies from non-natural causes.
